Kabod Internship & Volunteering Program (IVP)

Call for Young Professionals in edtech, language tech and international development.

Duration: 1-3 months (Volunteers) and 3 to 6 Month (Interns)

Location: Remote or in-person (if in Accra, Ghana).

 

Program Overview

Kabod is a leading research, edtech and language service provider in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a Group, Kabod has 3 core areas of practices:

Kabod Internship & Volunteering Program (IVP)
  1. Early Childhood Education: through our social enterprise Muna Kalati, we create educational resources such as storybooks, audiobooks and animations for African children and families. Our MK App, provides access to culturally relevant educational resources for kids in Africa and in the diaspora. We help African publishers in distributing and selling their children books through our App. And we host MK Academy where we provide training to content creators of early childhood resources: journalists, young writers, illustrators, animation specialists, cartoonists etc, so they can develop excellent resources that appropriately fit the learning needs of African children both online and offline.
  2. Language Services: we do provide translation, interpretation and localization services; and we are committed to building the African language industry. We are creating a future where African languages are widely spoken, taught in global universities and highly used in the digital space. Technology is an excellent tool for this future by building applications, software, systems and structures that increase the access and use of African languages. Kabod has already contributed to:
  1. Research, Evaluation and Learning: Kabod is globally known in the international development sector as a leading research consulting firm on the shift the power movement, exploring the interplay of power between the majority and the minority world. We also perform evaluation and learning projects for various clients.

Over the years, Kabod has trained about a hundred of professionals through its internship and volunteering program, preparing them to significantly advance in their careers in early childhood education, tech and the international development sector with UN Agencies, the World Bank, African Union, UNESCO, UNICEF etc. Selected interns and volunteers go through a robust and structured training program where they learn servant leadership, emotional intelligence, edtech, strategic thinking, data science and other essential skills that greatly contribute to their personal and professional development into high level positions.

IVP is an intensive training program for young professionals who are ambitious, afrocentric and hardworking. Some of the positions we are currently having available for the 2025 first batch include:

  7. App / Software developer (02)
  8. Sales and marketing specialists (02)
  9. Writers, copywriters, proofreaders (02)
  10. Translators, Interpreters, Language teachers (02)
  11. M&E, Knowledge Management, Impact Assessment (02)

Considering the high demand, the 2025 Q1 batch will include 22 young professionals with relevant experiences or educational background in one the above mentioned positions. Each IVP will be assigned under respective units/divisions of Kabod Group. We welcome francophone applicants since our interventions and offices are also in Francophone countries.

OBJECTIVES OF IVP

  • Provide young professionals with practical, robust and structured training and experiences that would prepare them for a career in edtech, languages technology and international development.
  • Provide the Group with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a Master Degree
  • D. program enrolled students
  • Have strong communication, tech and collaboration skills.
  • Any candidate must not be less than 24 and have an excellent academic background.
  • Applicants should have basic experience in the position for which they are applying.
  • Be based anywhere in the world but indicate period of availability in Cover Letter.

  • National Service Personnels (Ghana) are encouraged to apply.

Location & Application Details

Location: All interns or volunteers can work entirely remotely. Those in Accra (Ghana) can work from the Headquarters of Kabod Group International at East Legon.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • IVP is only for new applicants. Kabod’s Alumni shouldn’t apply.
  • Volunteering shall be granted to each candidate for not more than 3 months. Do indicate period of availability in cover letter.
  • Selected interns or volunteers will perform remotely or on-site, depending on their location. Remote IVP are expected to have access to a personal computer, reliable internet connection and a conducive environment for smooth remote working.
  • On-site interns shall be responsible for transportation to and from the Kabod Group location and for their upkeep.
  • Selected interns, after the first 2 months of probation, will receive a monthly stipend.
  • The Group runs two annuals IVP sessions: January to June and July to December. The announcement for session 1 of the 2025 IVP will be made at the end of December 2024, and selected interns will commence in January 2025.
