Position Overview

Kabod Language Services (KLS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced In-house interpreter and translator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will not only provide high-quality interpreting services from English to French and vice versa to our clients but will also manage our language technologies projects and oversee the organization of the prestigious African Translators and Interpreters Award (ATIA).

Responsibilities

  1. Provide accurate and efficient translation or interpretation for various settings, including business meetings, conferences, and other events.

  2. Ensure all translation or interpreting assignments meet the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

  3. Oversee and manage language technology projects, including the implementation and maintenance of translation and interpretation software.

  4. Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure seamless integration of language technologies into KLS’s operations.

  5. Stay updated on the latest advancements in language technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve service delivery.

  6. Lead the organization and coordination of the annual African Translators and Interpreters Award.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Interpretation, Linguistics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of professional interpreting experience.

  • Strong passion for African languages, a commitment to promoting multilingualism and building the language industry in Africa.

  • Strong proficiency in at least two languages, with French and English preferred.

  • Experience in language technologies and project management.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Enjoys teamwork and knows how to use LinkedIn, Google Alert and MS Teams.
