Position Overview

Kabod is a leading language service provider in Sub-Saharan Africa committed to innovation, excellence and serving the African language industry. Kabod is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our team in the roles of Translator, Interpreter, Writer, Proofreader, Editor, Graphic designer and Video Editor. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, enhance your skills, and build valuable connections within the language industry.

Responsibilities

1.
Translators and Interpreters

As
a translator or interpreter, you will:

• Proofread
  and edit submissions for our renowned Afrolinguals magazine,
  ensuring the highest quality of content.

• Create
  insightful write-ups and opinion pieces on pressing issues in the
  African language sector.

• Interpret
  during meetings and translate various documents.

• Assist
  in managing the Marketplace
  of African Language Translators & Interpreters (MATI)
  and the network of African
  Language Translators and Teachers (ALATT)

• Support
  our team in various other language-related projects.

2. Writers, Editors and Proofreaders

As a writer, editor, or proofreader, you will:

• Create original content for our renowned Afrolinguals magazine, including articles, features, and opinion pieces on pressing issues in the African language sector.

• Edit and proofread submissions for the magazine, ensuring the highest quality of content.

• Develop and refine style guides and editorial standards for Kabod’s publications.

• Contribute to the creation of marketing materials, website content, and social media posts.

• Assist in the development of language-related resources and educational materials.

3. Video Editors and Graphic Designers

As a video editor or graphic designer, you will:

• Enhance your skills by learning to use Canva to create engaging visual content.

• Work on exciting video projects that showcase our initiatives and events.

• Collaborate with our team to produce high-quality videos and visuals that promote our mission and services.
