Position Overview 

As the Intern in Sound Engineering, you will be an integral member of our team, responsible for the technical aspect of sound during the production of live broadcasts and podcasting, capturing, manipulating and reproducing sound to achieve the best broadcast and the technical requirements of the projects. Kabod host several podcasts such as the Knowledge Management Podcasts in Africa (KMPA), the podcast on African Language Technologies and Tools (ALATT) and the Podcast with Children books Professionals in Africa (MK Talks). Your sound editing skills will be instrumental in ensuring that quality outputs are distributed across all platforms.   

Position: Intern in Sound Engineer 

Responsibilities  

  • Blend and balance multiple audio elements, such as vocals, instruments, and sound effects, to create a cohesive and polished final mix. 
  • Edit and synchronize audio tracks, removing background noise, correcting errors, and ensuring smooth transitions. 
  • Work on the audio aspects of post-production for broadcast, integrating sound effects, dialogue, and music  
  • Collaborate with the comms department, and other team members to understand and fulfill the audio requirements of a project. 
  • Ensure that the final audio product is published and distributed across all platforms.  

Profile required. 

  • A degree or 2 years practical experience in audio engineering, sound production etc.  
  • Proficiency in using audio recording and editing software such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live. Knowledge of sound reinforcement systems for live broadcasts. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a good ear for sound quality, pitch, and timing. 
  • A creative mindset to contribute ideas and solutions for achieving the desired goals. 
  • Flexibility to work in various environments.
